The scope. A full carpentry package means one contractor carries the scope from the frame going up to the last architrave going on. On this Brighton project that covered wall, floor and roof framing, structural elements, and the second-fix carpentry that follows behind the wet trades.
Why packages work on residential. Splitting carpentry across a framer, a fixer and a finisher creates three handovers and three chances for tolerances to drift. Carrying the whole scope means the crew who set out the frame are the same crew hanging the doors, so what gets set out at frame stage is what the finish is built to.
Working with the builder. D5 Build run their own site management. Our job was to resource the carpentry properly, hold the program, and keep the site coordinated with the trades either side of us.
